Our History
Aqua Clarus was established nine years ago to develop and manufacture systems that treat total waste and greywater from domestic homes.
The first stage of development involved the separation and treatment of solids and liquids from sewage in a bioreactor to an advanced primary stage for underground disposal. The concept was incorporated in a 3000 litre tank, patented and commercialized as the Simply Natural (blackwater) and has been sold since 2002. It is a more sustainable alternative to a conventional septic system.
The second stage of development was to improve the bioreactor performance and to filter the separated liquid through a UF membrane and then treat with ultra violet light. This was incorporated in the same tank as the Simply Natural, patented and commercialized at the Super Natural in 2004. Water is of high quality and if approved can be used for surface irrigation and in some cases for environmentally sensitive sites.
The same water treatment concept was incorporated into a greywater treatment system and commercialized as the Super Natural Greywater System. A larger version of the greywater system involving the same concepts was subsequently developed and installed in a 12 apartment complex in Melbourne www.Westwyck.com . Commercial systems are now available to treat water from town houses and apartments.
In 2007 work commence on the development of a smaller above ground greywater system and the resultant AG 720 system was commercialized in 2011.

Our Products
Our products are very different to conventional systems. The central primary treatment system uses a novel separation device, a passively aerated composting chamber and an automatic solids removal process that results in a compact unit that has very low service requirements. It produces primary effluent of exceptional quality, and uses the remaining solids to fertilise vegetation on the site in a safe, sustainable manner. As the treated effluent is aerobic, there are no obnoxious smells.
